Chiswick Homefields V Aston Athletic 18/10/2008

Chiswick Homefields 5 Aston Athletic 0 On the back on an impressive cup win against a strong and organised Broadfields the confidence in the Chiswick camp was high. Wes still suffering from a bruised shin sat out of this game but that gave Justin his first start, Manu and Damian also returned to squad after shifting minor injuries. A good start saw near misses from Mark, Marcel and an impressive run from Todd saw his effort easily picked up by the Aston goalie. Chiswicks attacking style proved too much Aston's back four, a long throw from Damir into Jordans feet allowed him to turn the defender and slot home to the keepers bottom right. At 1 - 0 Chiswick then struggled to keep the ball and create any chances until a darting run from Damir, the right back saw Justin's cross field run, played a neat pass and Justin with the outside of his boot skillfully powered the ball passed the onrushing keeper. "A goal so good it was worth two"......apparently.

The second half was completely dominated by the home side, Jordan 'new boots' Rocca scored his second of the game with a 25 yard screamer curled into the top right, keeper got a hand to it but couldn't stop it. Some great interchange from Midfield to Attack saw Chiswick play some beautiful football, it was only a matter of time before they scored again. After an interception form midfield the ball roll to Jordan who chasing his hatrick saw a chance with the visitors goalie out of position. From 40 yards he unleashed a wicked shot into the top right hoop leaving the keeper flapping trying to reach it (a little like Luc a couple of weeks back). The 5th and final goal came from a headed flick from Jordan into the path of Mark who with bags of time cooly placed it passed the isolated keeper. A late surge forward from the visitors saw them go close with a close range headed effort but Gavin was alert to keep his first of many clean sheets this season. Overall another good win and a deserved 3 points, defense were solid and deserve as much praise as the attackers. Man of the match: Jordan Jordan 3 Justin 1 Mark 1 Mark

Chiswick Homefields 2 British Airways 2 Coming off of four straight wins, Chiswick Homefields would face off against perennial powerhouse British Airways in a battle of the unbeatens. CHFC needed a strong performance to take down BA and sit atop the league table. CHFC came out ready to play and it was obvious they were ready to topple the giants. BA put some pressure on the Chiswick defence to start the game, but a quality performance from stand in keeper Kris and the back four kept the game scoreless until halfway through the first half. Mid way through the first half, the BA forward collected the ball in the box on the and was able to get himself free with only the keeper to beat. The ball took a nasty hop, however the striker was able to get enough behind it to put it in the side net. 1-0 BA. CHFC kept pushing and was able to get an equalizer before the break. On a great ball over the BA defence from Doug, Wes I Can Jump Higher Than You Armstrong got his head on the ball to put it past the keeper and bring the game to 1-1 going into the break. Hungry for 3 points, CHFC came out strong in the second half with a point to prove. Early on, CHFC controlled the run of play until finally they were able to beat the keeper. A free kick was awarded outside the BA penalty area. Jordan played a ball across and made the keeper come off his line to collect the ball. The ball popped out of the keepers hands and, as easy as taking candy from a baby, Matt coolly knocked it in to put CHFC up 2-1. A well deserved goal by Matt. For the next 15 minutes, CHFC controlled the play and shots by Mark and Jordan just nearly missed putting CHFC up by 2 goals. With about 20 minutes left, a well placed cross found a BA player on the back post who headed it into the back of the net. 2-2. From that point on, the game was back and forth. Both teams were getting forward and getting chances to take the lead. Finally, with just under 10 minutes left, the BA forward received the ball in front of the net, turned and put a shot past our keeper to take the lead, a goal that would prove to be the game winner. The last 5 minutes saw CHFC throwing everything they had at goal until the final whistle blew. Although losing 3-2, A disappointing loss, but the team showed great character and will look forward to another chance to take down BA later on in the season. Chiswick Homefields v Roxeth 01/11/2008

Squad

Gavin Doug Luc Damir Wes Matt Manu Justin Jordan Mark Adam Damien Sevan Waseem

Chiswick Homefields 5 Roxeth 1 After the disappointing defeat to BA last week, it was important for CHFC to quickly get back into stride and keep the pressure on the league leaders. Sevan and Gav were back in starting line up from injury, and Adam made a return to the squad for the first time this season but started on the bench (freezing his plums off). In terrible rainy conditions, CHFC started fairly well in what turned out to be a very open first half. Both teams had time and space which made for lots of chances at both ends. The all important early goal was a familiar story. Damir throwing the ball to Jordan in the box who neatly flicked it over his marker and thumped it high into the net inside the keepers near post. Its the 2nd or 3rd goal Jordan's picked up from a Damir throw.... After the first goal the CHFC defense had to be strong and dilligent to preserve the clean sheet. Sev was finding lots of space in the left hand channel and on one occasion picked out a beautiful cross to the back post only for Justin to somehow head over the bar from 6 yards. The miss drew comparisons to Waseem's miss but unfortunately for Was, he's not losing his 'miss of the season' title that easily. More chances followed as CHFC used the flanks effectively and began to stretch Roxeths defense. Again on the left channel, Sev was played through, lobbed the keeper only to see his hand somehow get a touch on the ball to push it wide of the goal. Manu then made a great run to the byline and cut it back only for the defender to do just enough. Mark then fizzed a shot narrowly wide before Wes calmed some nerves by controlling a cross calmly and drilling home. Encouragingly, the team didn't relent and the 3rd goal came just before the break as Mark won possession and released Justin who squared for Jordan to tap home. The second half started like the first,Adam then replaced Matt on 55 minutes and things remained an arm wrestle until about the 70 minute mark. Waseem (on as a sub) embarked on a run down the right and managed to pick out Wes who prodded it home for his 2nd of the game. 4-0. Jordan (aka Ali) who had already pssed off every defender on the pitch then angered them further when he completed his hat-trick after dancing around 2 defenders with ease and shooting under/through the keeper. The game was over as a contest but to be fair, the opposition pushed forward and continued to make chances. Gav saved at least 3 one on ones and kept the score line looking healthy. The defense was finally breached late on through an alleged offside goal but as the writer of this report was searching for the flag at the time, I cannot provide a description of the goal! So, 5-1 and back on track. A good day indeed. Man of the match - Mark Hignett Jordan 3 Wes 2 Justin

Sporting Hackney v Chiswick Homefields 08/11/2008

Squad

Gavin Doug Luc Damir Adam Wes Mark Todd Justin Sevan Jordan Waseem Roberto

Sporting Hackney 1 Chiswick Homefields 3 Where do we start with this one? On a shocking and rain soaked "pitch" in the shadows of the Emirates stadium in North London, CHFC set about laying down their claim that they can prove to be serious title challengers this season. The pitch was by far the worst thats been played on this season and only time will tell if CHFC are to play on a worse one come April. However, I think we got our game plan and tactics spot on in that we played through and down the channels. There was no way the pitch would have allowed CHFC to play the normal free flowing and attacking football so it was great to see that we can adapt our style of play to suit different conditions. Both teams battled from the first whistle and it was clear for us all to see after about 20 minutes that this was going to be a real slog. The first goal came as a result of some great play in midfield and Sav got hold of the ball about 40 yards out.racing onto the ball (that nearly got stuck under his feet) however, did extremely well in dinking the ball over the advancing keeper (0-1). The next goal came as a result of some cracking play from Man of the Match Justin who fully deserved his goal; however the score line was flattering at halftime as we went in two nil up. The second half was a real battle as Hackney threw everything at us and Gav made some crucial stops between the sticks. Saying that we also created chances and could have increased the lead had the referee been a little more consistent with his decision making however we maintained our composure and discipline and with about 20 minutes to go had managed to go 3 up as Hackney conceded and OG as a result of some deadly balls being delivered into the box. Shortly after CHFC conceded a sloppy goal and it was disappointing to concede, however the score line was now 3-1 with about 15 minutes to play! It was at this stage that we needed to really dig deep as they threw everything at us, including a few elbows and cheeky right handers! However, we stood strong and played out what seemed like about 20 minutes of injury to time to take all 3 points.A gritty, resilient and well deserved 3 points..that I think underlines our true aspirations for the League!!! Cracking result Top drawer!!!! Sevan 1 Justin 1 OG Adam
